ITINERARY
DAY 01 (L, D)
Meet & greet at Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). Proceed to Villa Escudero located two and a half hours south of Manila. Villa Escudero is a functioning coconut plantation which offers a peek into the alluring Philippine country life. We tour the plantation on a cart drawn by a carabao (water buffalo). There's also an estate museum that holds a collection of historic, religious, and cultural artifacts dating from the pre-Hispanic era to World War I. Lunch is served beside a man-made waterfall – tables set within the water allow diners to immerse their feet in the cool rushing water. Complete the day with a swim in the villa's spring-fed pools. Cultural shows every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Afternoon proceed to Tagaytay. Tagaytay sits on a ridge 685 meters above Taal Lake and its active island-volcano. From a vantage point along the ridge, one can get a good look of the seemingly placid but volatile Taal Volcano surrounded by the gleaming waters of the lake. Tagaytay is known as the country’s second summer capital (next to Baguio) because of its cool, breezy, and at times foggy weather. The extensive fruit and flower gardens lining the main road are attributed to its rich, fertile soil. Tagaytay is also a popular destination for people who wish to marvel at Taal Volcano – the world’s smallest active volcano. For dinner guests will be served a local delicacy called bulalo (beef bone marrow soup), the perfect treat for Tagaytay's cool weather. Proceed to hotel for check in. Overnight in Tagaytay
DAY 02 (B, L, D)
Breakfast at hotel then check out. Proceed to local market for a chance to buy fresh fruits, flowers and local handicrafts. Optional snacks: buko pie (coconut pie), fried tawilis (the only freshwater sardine in the world), and Coffee Alamid (one of the world’s most exclusive & expensive coffee brands whose beans are fermented inside the stomach of the Palm Civet cat). Afterwards return to Manila. The capital of the Philippines, its heart and soul, is Manila. It sets the rhythm of life in this archipelago and is a pulsating hub that blends the Oriental with the Occidental, the quaint with the modern, the mundane with the extraordinary. Manila was born out of the ashes of a once flourishing Malay settlement by the banks of the Pasig River. In 1571, Miguel Lopez de Legazpi established the Ever Loyal City of Manila which, until 1898, was the seat of Spanish colonial rule in Asia. He built the city within walls and called it Intramuros. Manila is dubbed the Asian capital with a Latin demeanor but Filipino soul. Proceed to Manila city tour – we visit the charms of old Manila starting with Luneta (Rizal Park) to see the national hero’s monument, walled city of Intramuros, Fort Santiago, and Manila Cathedral. Enjoy sumptuous Filipino lunch while being serenaded by performing waiters at Singing Cooks and Waiters. Afternoon souvenir shopping at SM Mall of Asia, one of the world’s largest malls. Finally proceed to dinner with cultural show before going to hotel for check in. Overnight in Manila
DAY 03 (B, L, D)
Breakfast at hotel then check out. Proceed to Clark around two hours north of Manila. We visit Nayong Pilipino, a park that showcases Philippine culture, history, and geography. Have a walk in the park and enjoy witnessing key segments of Philippine history and experience the rich diversity of Filipino culture in living color. Afterwards proceed to Puning Hot Spring. At the jump-off point we transfer to 4x4 jeeps that will take us across a scenic drive passing through dramatic landscapes created by the explosion of Mount Pinatubo – driving by lahar-filled valleys, rocky rivers, and narrow crevices under mountains. This experience promises to be one of the most adventurous drives you’ll remember for years. When Mount Pinatubo erupted on June 12, 1991 it blew its top of formerly unassuming lump of jungle-covered slopes into the air killing hundreds of people and damaging the properties and livelihood of millions. Ash fell as far away as Singapore, and in the year to follow, volcanic particles in the atmosphere would lower global temperatures by an average of 0.5 degrees Celsius (0.9 degrees Fahrenheit). Despite Mount Pinatubo’s devastating eruption it has brought a handful of impressive outcomes for tourism purposes and one of those is found in Puning Hot Spring. Puning Hot Spring is hidden in one corner of Mount Pinatubo’s lahar-covered foothills. The complex structure blends effortlessly with the surroundings, as if it was etched from the face of the mountain. Upon arrival at Puning Hot Spring, enjoy sumptuous buffet lunch. After resting proceed to volcanic sand spa therapy – prepare to be buried under warm volcanic sand for 20 minutes. This treatment helps lower cholesterol, relieves body pains, and improves blood circulation. Afterwards enjoy a body massage by an indigenous Aeta therapist. Later on mudpack is applied to your entire body with mud made from lahar spewn by Mount Pinatubo. This mudpack is good for treating skin allergies, tightening pores, and regulating body temperature. Afterwards we proceed to the beautifully designed resort that creatively places the hot pools — 11 hot pools and two warm pools — atop stone formations, which can be reached after climbing stone staircases. Try hopping from one pool to another to test the various water temperatures and find which one suits you best to relax and soothe your muscles. Glance up at the towering rock formations within the resort and find billowing hot steam coming from crevices and from the natural hot spring waterfall around which the pools are constructed. After the relaxing session at Puning Hot Spring proceed to dinner then to hotel for check in. Overnight in Clark
DAY 04 (B, L, D)
Breakfast at hotel then check out. Proceed to Subic. Subic Bay is located on west coast of the island of Luzon, around 100 km northwest of Manila Bay. Formerly the site of the largest US Naval Base outside the United States, it is now a major ecotourism destination. Subic remains naturally untouched and unadulterated amid the thriving industrial and technological developments happening in the area. It features a wide range of habitats present in the forest due to the terrain, streams, and fringing grasslands. The three-layered virgin forest of Subic Bay provides home to the world's largest bats: the giant flying fox (Acerodon jubatus) and the golden crown flying fox (Pteropus vampyrus). Over the years, these two species of giant fruit bats have roamed around the 10,000-hectare Subic Bay National Park, which is considered one of the biggest roosting sites of bats in the world. We visit Ocean Adventure – the first and only open-water marine park in Southeast Asia where animals (whales, dolphins, sea lions, jungle animals and a number of fish and sea creatures) live and play in a natural environment with clear water full of marine life, coral reefs, and beautiful white sand beaches. Visit Zoobic Safari – a natural park where wild animals like tigers and ostriches roam freely in an enclosed area. Enjoy a traditional war dance and monkey dance performed by the indigenous Aeta tribe. Feel the thrill as we come close to a 400-pound tiger during feeding time. As the venue for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Summit on November 24, 1996, Subic is home to various interesting sites which we will visit thru a rolling tour including Bicentennial Park, Waterfront, Lighthouse Marina, Triboa Bay (APEC Villas), and Subic Bay International Airport. Lunch and dinner will be served at a local restaurant. Proceed to hotel for check in. Overnight in Subic
